Dear Nina

Sally Blagg presents Dear Nina: a sonic love letter to Nina Simone. Presented as an encore performance from the successful appearance at Singing Nina (May 2019), Drea D’nur with strings by Rootstock Republic will once again present this incredible program of music.

Power, poise and passion reign supreme in this pairing of voice and strings that celebrates the legendary - and at times uncharted - canon of Nina Simone. Drea d'Nur (Vocalist/Pianist) accompanied by a 6-piece string ensemble, courtesy of Rootstock Republic: LIVE, share center stage in this uniquely intimate and newly orchestrated songbook of Nina's Love Songs, Blues and Protest Music.

TWO SHOWS: Performances at 4PM and 8pm

General admission tickets are $25 adv/$30 day of show

Germantown: In Black & White

Germantown: In Black and White, is a photography exhibit produced by a cohort of Philadelphia youth interns who, with no prior photography experience, took to the streets (deemed unsafe) to capture the “essence” of the Germantown Historic District.

With guidance from local merchants David Rose (Sally Blagg) and Steven Taylor (Steven CW Taylor Photography), the task was to capture images of the physical environment while discussing the social fabric in the process.

The show will be on display at the Germantown Historical Society on Saturday August 10th, 2019 from noon to 4pm. The exhibit will be during second Saturday as a part of the neighborhood’s 330th anniversary weekend. RSVP for the free event by using this Eventbrite link.
